Basic Troubleshooting Checklist


No Power

Status LEDs

Confirm if the hardware has lights on the device. Use the flash pattern guides for the type of hardware to narrow down the root cause.

Physical connections

If the device does not have lights on, the power connections should be checked as a next step. If the vehicle is hardwired, the device may not receive power, or a fuse may have blown in the diagnostic port using a plug-and-play dashcam.

Device Offline

Reseat SIM and SD card

Remove and reinsert the SIM and SD card, then repower the device and observe if reports in Autonomise.

Advanced Troubleshooting Using Veyes Mobile App


Use Veyes Mobile app

1. Check APN and server settings in the device settings or locally using the Veyes app or an easy-check device.

2. Confirm the DRID is correctly assigned in Autonomise and matches what is installed into the vehicle.

Power

Indicator Light GREEN when device has power

Indicator Light OFF (no light) when device does not have power

 

 

If device has been installed and there is no green power indicator light, check the following:

  • All device cables are connected. If connections are within reach, disconnect and reconnect connections. (See 3-wire install guide)

    • There are 3 wiring components

      • 1. Video camera unit with attached wire

      • 2. Power supply box (with cable)

      • 3. Power supply cable (2 options)

        • Option for 3-wire install OR

        • Option for OBD2 plug install

  • Vehicle has ignition turned on. When ignition is on, give the device a minute to power up.

  • Verify fuses in included wiring harness

  • Verify fuses of vehicle

 

Optional***

  • Use Veyes mobile app to check for device broadcasting WiFi (will show device serial number)

 

Event Status

 

Indicator light will flash RED when an event occurs

  • Blinks RED three times when event occurs

GPS Status

 

Indicator Light OFF (no light) when device has GPS positioning and functioning normally

Indicator Light RED when GPS error detected, positioning abnormal

 

If the indicator light is RED consistently:

  • Check install location of device and ensure that there are no other devices or hardware that could be blocking the GPS signal

  • Vehicle location

    • Ensure vehicle is not in a building or covered area that might prevent network connection

  • Check platform to confirm physical location is correct

    • If physical location is not correct, reach out to support

If indicator light is RED periodically, but device is reporting correctly, no troubleshooting is required.

Network Status

 

Indicator Light OFF (no light) when network connectivity is normal

Indicator Light RED when there network connectivity error is detected

If the indicator light is RED consistently:

Required Tools:

  • Socket Head Wrench

  • Remove device SD cards (1 and 2) and reinsert

  • Remove SIM and reinsert

  • Reach out to DCS Support Team to:

    • Check SIM Management Portal

      • SIM is activated

      • No network outage

      • Data usage/data traffic flow

  • Ensure vehicle is not in a building or covered area that might prevent network connection

If indicator light is RED periodically but device is reporting properly, no troubleshooting required, intermittent coverage with store and forward of data is common and handled by system

Forward Facing Camera

 

Indicator Light OFF (no light) when forward (road) facing camera is recording properly
Indicator Light RED when error is detected with forward (road) facing camera recording

If the indicator light is RED consistently:

  • Confirm device connections

  • Confirm camera lens is not obstructed

  • Confirm in platform if recordings are available for this channel

Driver Facing Camera

 

Indicator Light OFF (no light) when driver facing camera is recording properly
Indicator Light RED when error is detected with driver facing camera recording Troubleshooting Notes

  • Confirm device connections

  • Confirm camera lens is not obstructed

  • Confirm in platform if recordings are available for this channel

Extension Camera

If Applicable

 

Indicator Light OFF (no light) when extension (accessory) camera is recording properly
Indicator Light RED when error is detected with extension (accessory) camera recording

If the indicator light is RED consistently:

  • Confirm device connections

  • Confirm camera lens is not obstructed

  • Confirm in platform if recordings are available for
